Progress In Darfur? Not So Much

NYT this morning:

The Sudanese government and the most formidable rebel group in Darfur have signed a declaration of intent paving the way for peace talks over the coming months, Sudan’s ambassador to the United Nations said Tuesday.

AFP this afternoon:

Sudanese forces bombed rebel positions in Darfur on Wednesday, with the ink barely dry on a deal between Khartoum and the strongest rebel group that was hailed as a turning point in efforts to end the six-year conflict.
