Last night Bernie took a break from the New Hampshire campaign trail to make a brief cameo on the sketch show, where he appeared in a short-but-good skit about a rich man (played by Larry David) who demands a spot on the lifeboat of a sinking steamship.
“Technically my life is worth more than all of yours put together,” David shouted as Sanders appeared to wild applause.
“I am so sick of the one percent getting this preferential treatment. Enough is enough! We need to unite and work together if we’re all going to get through this,” Bernie implored.
“Sounds like socialism to me.”
“Democratic socialism,” Bernie clarified. Comedy sketch show or not, you just cannot get the man off-message.
In another pre-recorded skit, Larry David portrayed Sanders in a Curb Your Enthusiasm-style bit based on Sanders’s squeaker of a loss in Iowa. In the sketch, Sanders manages to piss off a handful of supporters with his generally weird, idiosyncratic personality, and later finds those few voters switched sides to make up the margin of his loss.
