Martin O’Malley inexplicably plays the age card; audience audibly groans.

Apparently intent on giving O’Malley just enough rope to hang himself during tonight’s debate, ABC News allowed the former governor of Maryland to chime in on foreign policy, and O’Malley decided to offer a “different generation’s perspective.”

O’Malley, born in 1963, is part of the Baby Boomer generation, just like Hillary Clinton, who was born in 1947. Born in 1941, Bernie Sanders likely counts as part of the so-called Silent Generation, but it’s still a bit rich to imagine O’Malley trying to convince Sanders that the Cold War campaign against crypto-commies was ill-conceived.
