(Extrajudicial) murder by numbers, Donald Trump edition.

At a Thursday event in New Hampshire with the New England Police Benevolent Association, and to the delight of law-enforcement officers everywhere, Trump announced a brand new item on his marvelous, truly best-ever agenda.

Critics across the political spectrum were quick to point out that our system of government doesn’t work even remotely like this. But I’d invite them to consider the possibility that they simply aren’t as creative as Trump, who, in addition to mastering the art of the deal, may have also mastered the art of inspiring vigilantism. You can at least partially square this promise with the structural realities of our political system if you assume Trump is promising to pardon people who engage in federal conspiracy against, and murder of, cop killers.

Trump might not technically be a fascist ... yet. But he has room to grow.
